NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Sporadic light rain showers with wet snow flurries are falling across New Mexico or they’re not even reaching the ground because of dry-enough air lingering beneath the clouds as temperatures are starting off relatively mild for most with clouds absorbing infrared radiation from escaping into space with westerly down-sloping winds in the East Highlands mixing the air around, a process that’s also creating a relatively mild start, but calm conditions with high humidity in the Permian Basin have led to a cold fog for a few in those areas. Air temperatures are in the upper teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, and even lower 50s from northwest to southeast from high to lower elevation, but some of that cooler air is settling down to some of the valley floors.
