South Florida woman convicted for threats painted at Winter Haven pregnancy center in 2022

A South Florida woman has been convicted for her role in the vandalizing of a Winter Haven pregnancy care center in 2022.

A federal jury convicted Gabriella Oropesa of Cooper City with violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, a federal law that protects reproductive health-care facilities and places of worship. Three other defendants — Caleb Freestone, Amber Stewart-Smith and Annarella Rivera — had previously pleaded guilty to similar charges based on the painting of threats at the LifeChoice Pregnancy Center in June 2022.

The four engaged in a series of targeted attacks on pregnancy help centers in Florida that provided and counseled alternatives to abortion, the Department of Justice said in a news release. The defendants, acting at night and wearing masks and dark clothing, spray painted the facilities with threatening messages , including “If abortions aren’t safe than niether [sic] are you,” “YOUR TIME IS UP!!” and “WE’RE COMING for U.”
