Stanislaus County opening ‘express’ library while Modesto Library undergoes renovation

(FOX40.COM) — The Stanislaus County Library is expected to open an “express” library in downtown Modesto next month while the city’s main library undergoes renovation.

The library system will hold a grand opening at 10 a.m. on Jan. 6 at the Modesto Express Library at 10th Street Plaza.

The county said the event will include a ribbon cutting and, weather permitting, a Story Time and other activities for children.

“Whether you’re a regular library user or stopping by for the first time, the Express Library in 10th Street Plaza is a great spot to discover what the library has to offer. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!” said County Librarian Sarah Dentan.

The Express Library is scheduled to be open Monday to Saturday and will allow visitors to apply for library cards, print and scan, pick up holds, return materials and borrow from a small selection of books available for checkout.

The Modesto Library at 1500 I Street closed in November and is expected to reopen in Summer 2026.
