Repeating downpours and severe thunderstorms in parts of the south-central United States will take a toll on travel and could lead to dangerous conditions in some locations into the end of the week.
A pair of storms that swing out from the southern Rockies will lead to travel problems on and around Christmas due to localized flooding, severe thunderstorms and patchy fog over the south-central United States, AccuWeather meteorologists warn.
The first storm will push from Texas and Oklahoma on Tuesday to Arkansas and Louisiana on Christmas day.
While there is not a high risk of violent thunderstorms packing tornadoes, a number of the storms will bring the potential for flash flooding, strong wind gusts and even hail to much of central and northeastern Texas from Tuesday to Tuesday evening.
“The risks will shift from Dallas in the morning on Tuesday, to Austin and Tyler, Texas, during the late morning and afternoon,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said. “Santa and other travelers could have a bumpy ride around Houston Tuesday evening.”
