Escambia County house fire sends 1 to hospital

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — One person went to the hospital on Saturday after a house fire in Escambia County, according to county officials.

An Escambia County news release said seven Escambia County Fire Rescue units responded Saturday to a residential structure fire at the 8700 block of Doris Ave.

LOCATION:

According to the county, the first unit to arrive saw smoke coming from the front door of the single-story home. They discovered a fire in the kitchen.

The county news release said the fire damage was limited to the kitchen, but the home occupants were displaced and will not be able to return to the home until repairs are made. The American Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced.

County officials said Escambia County EMS took one person to a local hospital.

ECFR’s investigation determined unattended cooking caused the fire.
