UPDATE: Man killed in Baldwin County deputy-involved shooting identified

UPDATE (12/23 2:40 p.m.): The Baldwin County Major Crimes Unit has identified the suspect in Sunday’s deputy-involved shooting as 24-year-old Logan Tyler Swanson of Foley.

An MCU release said deputies involved in the incident were not injured, and both were placed on administrative leave “as is standard procedure in all officer-involved use of force incidents that result in death.”

MCU officials said they would continue to conduct an independent investigation but would not release any more information until their investigation was complete.

UPDATE (9:17 p.m.): One person is dead following the officer-involved shooting Sunday night.

According to the Baldwin County Major Crimes Unit, deputies conducted a traffic stop on the Baldwin Beach Express when a physical fight broke out between one person in the vehicle and two deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s office.

Officials say the deputies verbally commanded the subject to stop fighting and comply with instructions. The subject then pulled out a firearm and was then shot by one of the deputies.
