Today (Monday): A Brief Calm Before the Storm
Enjoy the mostly quiet conditions today—it’s a pause in what will be a busy weather week. The day should stay dry, but if you’re in the lower Yakima Valley or Kittitas Valley, keep an eye on dense fog that could linger. Later tonight, around 7–8 PM, a warm front will move into central Oregon, bringing rain to the region and eventually spreading northward by early Tuesday morning.
Tonight & Tuesday: Rain, Wind, and Some Snow in Higher Elevations
Expect a mix of rain and gusty winds as this warm front pushes through. Snow levels will remain quite high—about 4,000 feet in the Washington Cascades and a lofty 7,000 feet in Oregon. Most major mountain passes should only see light snow accumulations, likely less than 2 inches, except for Santiam Pass, where there’s a small chance for a bit more.
Winds:
- If you’re in the Grande Ronde Valley or near the base of the Blue Mountains, buckle up—it’s going to get windy. Gusts could reach 50 mph in some areas, especially near Cabbage Hill, which is under a High Wind Warning. Elsewhere, Wind Advisories should hold steady, with gusts strong but not extreme.
