Arrest made in death of St. Pete 15-year-old, police say

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — An arrest has been made in the death of a 15-year-old from St. Petersburg that occurred on Dec. 18.

On Monday, officials arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy with second-degree murder. WFLA is not releasing his name at this time due to the suspect being a minor.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting at TGM Bay Isles apartments located at 11859 Dr Martin Luther King Jr St. N.

SPPD said they discovered 15-year-old Tomohnd Newkirk suffering from a gunshot wound. The teen was immediately transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital where he died.
