CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — “You feel like your world is coming to an end in a moment.”
That’s what Shelby Hall said, reflecting on the moment she learned her Chesapeake house was destroyed as the result of a fire. She and Jai Johnson are to be married next September.
Dog dies, family of two displaced in Chesapeake house fire
The before photos of a beautiful home filled with Christmas decorations and warmth and stunning beauty now look like a bombed out building.
They’ve lost so much, but the biggest loss of all — “Well, the dog, yes, that was the big one,” Johnson said.
Yes, no doubt the big loss is their beloved 130-pound Schnauzer, 1-year-old Winston, who Hall said never knew a stranger. There was also a tree ornament of the loveable Winston, who was perfectly trained and a graduate of pet training.
“Winston was really, like, the core of our house,” Johnson said. “It really tied us all together, and our family and her family that he was. He was the one dog that, in a sense, irreplaceable. You are never going to find anyone like him.”
