Ten days after being struck by a car while on a bicycle , a 44-year-old Oxnard man died from his injuries, authorities said.
Antonio Rodriguez had been on his bike in Oxnard’s La Colonia neighborhood Dec. 13 when the driver of a 2022 Toyota Camry hit the cyclist. Rodriguez suffered major injuries and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where he died Monday, the Oxnard Police Department said in a news release.
The collision was reported around 7:55 a.m. Dec. 13 at the intersection of First Street and Roosevelt Avenue, police said at the time. Rodriguez had been on a fixed-gear bicycle without brakes, and he was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the car, a 20-year-old Oxnard resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The crash is still under investigation, but as of Monday, no citations or charges had been issued, police officials said.
