Community helps police identify Battle Ground Grinches

Battle Ground Police Department (BGPD) officers have identified two juveniles in connection with reports of holiday lights and decor being vandalised at local businesses and residences, a release by the city stated on Thursday, Dec. 29.

During the week of Thanksgiving, the BGPD received reports of vandalism targeting holiday lights and displays at local businesses and residences. The vandalism typically occurred during the evening hours, with suspects smashing holiday ornaments, disrupting festive scenes and cutting the wiring of lighting displays, the release stated. In some instances, after victims repaired or replaced the damaged decorations, the suspects returned and re-vandalized the property.

“Thanks to the vigilance and cooperation of our community, two juvenile suspects have been identified,” the release stated. “Follow-up investigations are ongoing as we work to identify and locate any additional suspects involved in these incidents. The Battle Ground Police Department is grateful for the tips and information provided by the community, helping officers to build a case so the individuals involved may be held accountable for their actions.”
