Winter Haven church group spreads Christmas spirit to Mulberry migrant community

MULBERRY, Fla. (WFLA) — A wrapped gift means somebody cares about you, and on Monday, children in Polk County were able to feel the love.

“I’m just curious, who’s the fastest kid here?” asked Sean Fielder, executive director of Faith Xtreme to a group of eager children Monday afternoon.

Is Publix open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

After a large “quack” from Fielder’s mouth, the children took off running towards bags of gifts with their names on them.

“Yes I wanted this!” exclaimed Julio Jorge, age 10.

The Nerf gun gift he received was present perfection.

“I had one. It’s just that I never got one so big,” said Jorge.

Every week, Jorge and his neighborhood friends in the Willow Oaks area of Mulberry are paid a visit by Faith Xtreme, a Winter Haven-based church group.

“Praise the Lord for Jesus that Jesus brought them here to give us food and feed the poor,” said Jorge.

Along with food, the group plays games and studies the Bible with the children, while also assessing and meeting their needs.
