About $25,000 in jewelry and $12,000 in cash has been reported stolen from a neighborhood off Columbia Road.
A Grovetown couple retured to their Orchard Hill Road home the evening of Dec. 20 to find the house broken into, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
One of the owners said she and her husband “entered the residence through the garage, and noticed that their bedroom had been rummaged through, with mattresses flipped over and drawers opened with cash missing from Wells Fargo envelopes located under the mattresses,” the report said.
The homeowners told authorities they were unsure precisely how many pieces of jewelry, handmade in Lebanon, were stolen.
Footage from a doorbell camera in the neighborhood is being reviewed in the investigation.
