TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Local middle school students in Tampa gave back to pediatric patients this year, delivering more than 75 toy donations to bring them some holiday cheer.
Students with the National Junior Honor Society at Benito Middle School visited AdventHealth Tampa on Monday, to deliver the gifts collected at their school.

“We wanted to do this project because it would help the kids who are in AdventHealth, and it’s very Christmas-y,” said student, Amine Kouki.
The students said the toys donated were picked out specifically so that kids wouldn’t have to leave their beds to play with them, as they recover in the hospital.
“I think for the kids it means that someone is still thinking about them while they’re here in the hospital,” staff member Sandra Burnetter said.
The students hope that this small act will bring light and joy to the young patients this holiday season.
“I think what these kids have done has been amazing,” Burnetter added. “I think it has made an impact not only in them but also the kids that they have distributed gifts to.”
