Patrol urging motorists to ‘designate before you celebrate’

(Council Bluffs) — Law enforcement agencies remind motorists to plan ahead and avoid distractions while traveling during the holiday season. The Iowa State Patrol is among the agencies across the state partnering with the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau in a high-visibility enforcement campaign to remind motorists to “Designate Before You Celebrate” through January 1st. Trooper Ryan Devault is the public resource officer with the patrol’s District 3 office. Speaking on KMA’s “Morning Line” program Tuesday morning, Devault says that while most holidays have heavy traffic, motorists can expect the roads to be particularly busy given the calm forecast.
