Several fundraisers have been established to help the family of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s sergeant who was killed in the line of duty this month.
Sgt. Elio Diaz was shot and killed by a 24-year-old man during a traffic stop on Dec. 15. Diaz, who was with the CCSO for 11 years, is survived by a wife and four children, including a 4-year-old boy.
Bleeding Blue this week approached the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office about doing two fundraisers for the Diaz family.
The first is an End of Watch Challenge Coin honoring and remembering Diaz for his ultimate sacrifice and as a local hero. The coin has a photo of Diaz on the front and a blue and black ribbon with his badge number 2962 on the back. The 4mm 3D coin is $30.
The second is a keepsake T-shirt that says “Diaz” on the front with his badge number and “fallen but never forgotten” on the back. The $30 shirt comes in unisex sizes from XS to 3X.
All proceeds will be donated to the Diaz family, who approved this fundraiser, according to CCSO.
