AUSTIN (KXAN) — Have you noticed decorated trees along Loop 360? These pretty trees have been decorated by locals in memory of loved ones who have passed away.
The trees are adorned with holiday decor and photos of loved ones and can be spotted along the roadway.
Darlene Sorrels and her family have made decorating a tree along this road a tradition. The Sorrels family started back in 2017 when Sorrels’ father passed. This holiday season, Sorrels and her family got together to decorate a second tree in memory of her 93-year-old mother who passed away in June of this year.
“It makes it a great celebration. I mean, we miss her, but we enjoyed putting up the tree,” Sorrels said.
“We enjoyed deciding what would go on it that reminded us of her. And then to see the other people, the day that we finished, another family was going about three trees down. So, it’s fun to see just the camaraderie of it all,” Sorrels added.
Sorrels said she and her family began decorating her mother’s tree on Thanksgiving, starting with a photo of her right at the top of the tree.
