This is being done as 4DEZ hosts a Prom Expo at the Brownsville Community Center on Jan. 26.
According to a news release from officials with the initiative, the expo aims to provide girls access to prom attire and spark conversations about teen dating education ahead of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month in February.
Officials said the expo will feature the following:
- A fashion show from formal wear retailers
- Empowerment sessions with guest speakers
- Educational presentations on topics like recognizing red flags and setting boundaries
- A local vendor showcase to connect attendees with resources
“Our mission goes beyond providing dresses,” said Board Member, Stacey Gilreath. “It’s about empowering young girls to recognize their value and to step into their futures with confidence and strength.”
