Clay Ingram with Triple-A said more than 119 million Americans will be traveling a distance of 50 miles or more nationwide.

“The southeastern region of the country is almost always the busiest region,” said Ingram.

“Because the weather is a little bit more conducive, and we get a lot of drive-through traffic. People heading to the Gulf Coast or heading to central Florida to Disney World or Universal Studios or more recently we are seeing a lot more people heading to the cruise ports all along the Florida Coastline.”

Todd Allendorph was among the many travelers making a pit stop at Buc-ee’s Tuesday afternoon.

“We’re coming from Orlando — we’re headed home now,” said Allendorph.

Allendorph said his family has traveled about 1,600 miles over a five-day period.
