(FOX40.COM) — As the holidays are upon us, for most families it means that it’s tamale’s time which is a tradition that has been in many families for years.
Yolanda’s Tamales is a small restaurant business that is also on wheels with a food truck owned by Andrés Yañez in Sacramento that carries his mother’s legacy as well as her special recipe.
The restaurant is located at 6885 Luther Drive in Sacramento.
Yañez has been in the business since he was a child around 2011 but his mom started this business in 1988.
In most Latino households having a tamale can remind them of their childhood times or good memories with loved ones.
“When they eat our tamales, you know, they’re like, oh, the flavors remind me of my of my grandma, or they remind me of my of the time I had with my family when we used to make ourselves,” said Yañez.
According to Yañez, it can take up to two days to make tamales because one day you cook all the meats, then you make the sauce, and then assemble it the day of.
