Kitten rescued from San Diego Christmas tree lot after family killed by coyotes

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — It’s a Christmas miracle of sorts for one lucky feline. After her family was killed by coyotes, a kitten was found alive under a Christmas tree that a family was getting ready to take home for the holidays. And she will soon be up for adoption.

The Helen Woodward Animal Center says the kitten, named Evergreen, is now spending the holidays with a foster family and their dog, whom she has fallen in love with.

It all started when Helen Woodward Animal Center’s veterinary director Dr. Alexis Siler went to a Valley Center Christmas tree lot in late November with her son and daughter to pick out a tree to take home.

As they began to move the Christmas tree, they discovered an 8-week-old kitten underneath. She was malnourished and suffering from intestinal parasites, but alive.
