Grievances aired at annual Erie Ale Works Festivus celebration

Christmas is always a time for joy and cheer, but Monday night some people got a chance to let off a little steam before the holidays.

Erie Ale Works hosted its Festivus 2024 at Basement Transmissions Monday night, a Seinfeld-themed party complete with live music, barbeque, and drinks from Erie Ale Works and altered state distillery.

The event organizer said Festivus has recently outgrown its previous home at Erie Ale Works, drawing in more people every year.

The party also featured an airing of grievances, which is a key part to the Festivus holiday.

“The airing of grievances is very traditional. At Festivus you submit your grievances and then you air them in front of a crowd because people will disappoint you all year, so it’s your chance to just unload on everybody for the entire year, so it’s fun, it’s lighthearted, and it’s by no means serious in any way,” said Jeff McCullor, Erie Ale Works’ co-owner.
