SAVANNAH, Ga (WSAV) — ‘Twas the day before Christmas and Old Savannah City Mission (OSCM) is prepping to give back to their friends and neighbors who are in need of a hot holiday meal or Christmas presents.
“We start prepping usually a week before Christmas, we start prepping,” program director, Jermaine Ray said. “It’s a lot to do. Like I said, as far as getting breakfast prepared for a 150 to 200 individuals and then turn around and doing the same thing for lunch.”
Ray said the annual Christmas breakfast and dinner is expected to draw in more people compared to last year. Thanks to community donations, the non-profit is able to provide a hearty holiday menu, and they will have more than enough hands to serve those in need.
“We have some military individuals that are in town that wasn’t able to get home for the holidays,” Ray said. “Also, just our family members in town that wanted to spend time with their family, but they still wanted to participate in giving back to the community.”
