Fentanyl poisoning ruled cause of death for convicted crime boss Mike Miske

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Nearly one month after convicted crime boss Michael Miske was found dead at FDC Honolulu federal prison, the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office revealed his cause of death was due to fentanyl poisoning.

Honolulu EMS received the call on Sunday, Dec. 1 for a medical emergency at the federal prison. Paramedics were there for nearly an hour before the medical examiner’s staff took over.

Medical examiner officials found traces of fentanyl and para-fluoro fentanyl while conducting the autopsy.

Convicted crime boss Michael Miske found dead in FDC

“Based on currently available information, the manner of death in this case appears to be accidental,” the M.E. said in a news release.

The official manner of death is still listed as pending since the case is still under investigation. A full autopsy report will not be available for at least 30 days.

Attorney Megan Kau, who is not involved with the case, said Miske’s death was no accident.
