Freezing drizzle and fog could create hazardous travel for these areas this evening and overnight

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you have had a blessed and joy-filled day. Unfortunately the weather was not so merry as we once again had dreary conditions across much of the viewing area. The dense fog along with freezing drizzle and fog will be the main story this evening and through the first half of the day tomorrow. Dense fog advisories have been posted yet again for the southeast half of the state for this evening through noon time Thursday. As if fog wasn’t enough, there is and will continue to be the threat for freezing fog paired with a slight chance of freezing drizzle later this evening through the overnight. The better chances for this will be in Custard, Lincoln, Hayes and Frontier counties. Already have had freezing fog in south central Nebraska where rime ice has accumulated on elevated surfaces. Just be aware while driving that there may be some slick spots, especially on the overpasses and untreated roadways and parking lots. The clouds will begin to clear for western areas overnight. This is where the colder temperatures will be found. Lows tonight will range from the lower 20s northwest to the mid 30s southeast.
