Meals on Wheels delivers Spokane seniors Christmas meals

SPOKANE, Wash. — A local organization is making sure seniors in Spokane have a warm meal for Christmas dinner.

Meals on Wheels Greater Spokane prepares over 900 meals a day for seniors in Spokane County, and they don’t take any breaks over the holidays.

“I drive and deliver meals to the people that need meals every day,” said James Glenn.

Glenn has worked with Meals on Wheels for five years and delivers meals to seniors in need every day, including Christmas.

The meals go to seniors who aren’t able to cook for themselves, and on the holiday, they also receive a special Christmas gift.

“I think they appreciate it because a lot of times, there’s nobody but them, and they don’t have anybody giving meals to them. So, I’m glad that’s what we do. We give them a meal, hoping that they’ll be able to appreciate it,” said Glenn.

Glenn said, while the deliveries mean a great deal to the recipients, they are also meaningful to him.

“It’s like a friendship. I see them everyday. They’re glad to see me, and I’m glad to see them,” he said.
