‘Just tears’: Families reunite at Tampa International Airport on Christmas Day

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Across the nation, families spent time in airports waiting to reunite with loved ones on Christmas Day and the first night of Hannukah.

There were several families at Tampa International Airport that were able to finally see their relatives. One of them was the Whitener family, who waited on their daughter who was flying in from California.

They also decided to have a bit of fun while waiting. Tod Whitener was dressed up as Santa Claus and his wife was dressed as a snowman, along with grandma.

“She’s going to be really excited, really embarrassed, or a little bit of both,” Whitener said.

As soon as his daughter arrived, she seemed a bit embarrassed while laughing it off. She was indeed excited to see her family on Christmas before she heads back out west next week.

Not far away from them inside the terminal, the Flores family waited for their son who was on a flight from Europe. This year was an extra special holiday for dad, Paul Flores.
