SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Islands.com, a lifestyle website with more than 5 million monthly views, has named Savannah as one of the most underrated foodie destinations in the United States.
While recognizing Charleston, South Carolina as a culinary gem in the Southern United States, Islands.com says Savannah — for the most part — has avoided the spotlight.
Noting Savannah’s coastal cuisine and old-fashioned Southern food, Islands.com noted the impressive range of other food options too. With everything from fine dining at The Grey to family fare at Brochu’s, foodies will find something for every palate.
Islands.com recognized Savannah’s investment in the downtown area. They noted the Hostess City’s thriving bar scene too, highlighting the fact that Savannah allows open containers.
Savannah is in very good company on the Islands.com list. Other cities highlighted were Newark, New Jersey, Asheville, North Carolina, and Richmond, Virginia.
Islands.com used its staff’s personal experience to compile this list. They researched Reddit, food and travel blogs, restaurant review sites, and food-based publications as well.
