Children unharmed during shooting on I-94 in Detroit that injured woman in same car

DETROIT (WWJ) – A woman is recovering after being shot while driving along I-94 on Detroit’s east side with two children early Thursday morning, according to the Michigan State Police.

The woman called authorities to report the shooting.

Troopers found multiple bullet holes in the woman’s vehicle, along with shell casings along the freeway, a Tweet from the MSP Second District said.

Authorities say the woman was hit by one of the bullets and taken to a local hospital.

The two children were uninjured. Family members of the woman were contacted and came to pick up the children at the scene.

The freeway was closed while an investigation was conducted, but has since reopened.

“Currently, we don’t know why the driver was shot at and do not have any information on the suspect or suspect vehicle,” F/Lt. Mike Shaw said.

The MSP Second District Freeway Investigative Support Team is currently investigating.
