Hillsboro is one of the fastest growing cities in the Portland metro, and it’s food and business scene sure shows it.
In 2024, new local restaurants were introduced and the community continued to rebuild and revitalize from the 2022 Weil Arcade fire. Meanwhile, some longstanding businesses returned, grew and are back and better than ever.
New eats on deck

High Ground, bringing tequila, tacos and more to the city’s core. The mezcal and tequila bar sits on the rooftop of the newly developed Main Street Commons — which breathed new life into the 24,000 square-foot building on Second Avenue and Main Street.Sugar Bubbles, which first hit the streets as a food truck that delivered refreshing treats for nearly two decades. Now, the business has a home in the pastel-yellow storefront at 131 S.E. Third Ave.Ranch Pizza, with other locations in Portland, Beaverton and Oregon City, made its way to Hillsboro at 142 S.E. Second Ave.Blue Moon Bakery, now baking up fresh treats at 403 S.E. Baseline St. The bakery’s “doughnut shop” is a place to purchase fried and filled doughnuts — but the store’s cases will also be filled with savory scones, soft cookies and all of Blue Moon’s other offerings.
