Giants named the best fit for four-time All-Star on one condition

The San Francisco Giants landed one of the top free agents available earlier this month when they signed star shortstop Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million contract.

However, there is more work to be done for the Giants if they hope to reach the postseason in 2025. They may need to make another big splash in free agency.

Zachary Rotman of FanSided listed San Francisco as a potential landing spot for slugger Pete Alonso, assuming that the Giants are unable to sign Corbin Burnes.

“The San Francisco Giants already made one splash this offseason, signing Willy Adames, and they have the money available to make another. That splash is probably more likely to come from a Corbin Burnes signing than Alonso, but why can’t this work if Burnes ends up elsewhere?” Rotman wrote.

Alonso slashed .240/.329/.459 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI and a .788 OPS during the regular season with the New York Mets and even helped New York make an improbable run to the National League Championship Series.
