Marine Veteran Charged with Murder in Lincoln Park Shooting: Shocking Details Emerge

Frightening evidence found at suspects Chicago home raises anxiety, concern among community residents

CHICAGO, IL — A former Marine has been indicted on a murder charge following the fatal shooting of Alexander Nesteruk, a Wheaton resident, in Lincoln Park last month. John Conway, 35, is accused of taking the life of Nesteruk after witnessing him act “erratically” on a busy North Side street.

Conway turned himself in earlier this month after the Chicago police released surveillance footage in an appeal for information. He first appeared in court on December 6 and was formally indicted during a hearing on Thursday. His arraignment is set for January 2, and he will remain in custody until that date.

Despite having no prior criminal record, Conway’s home was searched following the incident, leading to the discovery of unsettling items. Authorities reported finding multiple firearms, body armor, night vision goggles, and a detailed map of Illinois with various college campuses marked. This alarming collection has heightened concerns in the community regarding the nature of the incident.
