NOPD seeking suspect after battery of RTA bus driver

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — The New Orleans Police Department is seeking a suspect in connection with the battery of an RTA bus driver that took place on Thursday, Dec. 12.

According to the NOPD, the incident happened around 9:49 p.m. when the suspect reportedly tried to get on an RTA bus at Canal and South Prieur streets without paying.

Police say the RTA driver and another RTA employee then intervened before the suspect allegedly hit the driver with an object and threatened both employees with murder before leaving.

The individual is now being sought on charges of battery and disturbing the peace by threats.
