2-year-old boy injured in West Side shooting

CHICAGO — A shooting on the city’s West Side left a toddler critically injured on Thursday afternoon.

According to Chicago police, the incident unfolded at a home in the 3800 block of West 14th Street just after 4 p.m.

Officers said the victim, a 2-year-old boy, was inside the home when he suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body. He was later taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Following the incident, officers said a person of interest was taken into custody and a gun was recovered on the scene.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting.
