Drone show canceled, but Market Common going ahead with Southern Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration to ring in 2025

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A drone show planned during the Southern Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration in The Market Common has been canceled because of “unforeseen safety restrictions,” organizers said on Friday.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding and support,” organizers said in a news release.

The remainder of the traditional celebration to ring in 2025 will continue as planned. There will be a jumbotron; a mirror-ball drop at midnight; live music and entertainment; food and drink vendors; children’s activities; and a special guest appearance.

The event will kick off at 9 p.m. Tuesday, and tickets are required for everyone except children younger than 2 years old. To get a ticket, you will need an original receipt from any of The Market Common shopping center businesses listed here that shows a purchase of $25 or more in a single visit between now and Dec. 31. One ticket will be distributed for each $25 increment per valid receipt.
