Oregon vs. Ohio State headlines this year’s Rose Bowl, one of four College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchups played between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
On3 reported Christmas Day that FanDuel Sportsbook had released national championship odds for the eight remaining teams still alive for college football’s coveted prize, including the Ducks and Buckeyes.
While Texas leads the list at +310, Ohio State and Oregon sit right behind at +330 and +480, respectively. The Rose Bowl is a rematch of an Oct. 12 meeting between the two teams. Oregon held off a late Ohio State near game-winning drive to win 32-31, plus hand the Buckeyes their first loss of the season.
Oregon eventually finished the year unbeaten , with victories against Washington, Michigan, Maryland, and Wisconsin. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes needed to win out the rest of the way to rematch the Ducks in the Big Ten Championship but failed.
A 13-10 loss to Michigan in Week 14 Saturday during Thanksgiving weekend, coupled with a Penn State rout against Maryland, set up an Oregon-Penn State conference title game in Indianapolis. The Ducks prevailed in a 45-37 shootout to clinch a first-round bye and the eventual No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff.
