LOUISIANA ( KLFY ) — The mother of a murdered Plaquemine man is hoping someone in Acadiana can help find her son’s accused killer. Authorities say the wanted suspect has ties to the Lafayette area .
The mother of Ja’Morius Mitchell, 18, reported him missing on Dec. 12. His burned body was found in a sugarcane field in a nearby town a week later on Dec. 18.
Two suspects, one from Sunset, have been arrested, but the last suspect has still yet to be located.
“I don’t want anyone else to go through what I’m dealing with. It’s so much violence in our community that people like that just need to be stopped. Nobody should be hurt. My child, my family, we need justice,” Jessica Mitchell, the victim’s mother, said.
Tyler Davis, 18, is wanted for second-degree murder and obstruction of justice after authorities found the body of Ja’Morius Mitchell, 18, burned in a sugarcane field in Addis.
Davis is now on the run, though authorities say he has ties to Lafayette.
“Be careful. He’s dangerous. Protect your children. You see him, don’t approach him. Call the police. Let them do what they’ve been trained to do,” Ja’Morius’s mother said.
