Sheriff’s office: Suspect in stolen Jeep leads deputies on chase through Van Buren County

BLOOMINGDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A suspect was taken into custody after leading authorities on a chase through Van Buren County in a Jeep that had been stolen from a storage unit facility, deputies say.

Around 10:15 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to a storage unit facility on the 13000 block of County Road 665, near 15th Avenue, in Bloomingdale Township, having received a report that several units had been broken into around 6 a.m.

Investigators found that a 2005 Jeep Wrangler and “a significant amount of other personal property” had been stolen, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.

While checking the area, deputies say they found the Jeep at a home on the 13000 block of 49th Street, near 14th Avenue, in Columbia Township.

“The Jeep was occupied by one subject who refused orders from Deputies and fled in the vehicle,” deputies wrote in a release.
