Fatal Explosion at Tyson Foods Plant

A tragic incident occurred at a Tyson Foods poultry plant in Georgia, leaving one woman dead. The victim, 61-year-old Bajarma Batozhapov, was sleeping in a truck outside the plant when a fire sparked an explosion.

Batozhapov’s husband, a truck driver, was inside the building but was unharmed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Multiple individuals were injured in the incident, including Tyson Foods employees who reportedly suffered burns. The exact number and severity of injuries are unknown.

“Ensuring the safety of our team members is our top priority,” a Tyson Foods spokesperson stated. “We are conducting a full investigation into the cause.”

The Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union, which represents Tyson workers, expressed concern about the incident and called for a thorough investigation. Union president Stuart Appelbaum described the blast as a boiler explosion and emphasized the need for safe working conditions.
