A Silver Creek man was taken to a Buffalo hospital for serious injuries suffered as the result of a hunting accident in Irving. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Nicholas Stalker was deer hunting alongside 34-year-old Bobby Ackerman of Irving at a property on Buffalo Road shortly after 10:00 AM Saturday. Deputies say Ackerman tried to go down a steep hill when he fell to the ground, causing his muzzleloader to accidentally discharge. Stalker, who was standing nearby, got shot in the leg as a result. He was transported by Silver Creek Fire to ECMC.
