The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported over 32,000 cases of whooping cough, or pertussis, a staggering spike that is around six times higher than figures from the same time last year. According to a report by ABC15, this infectious respiratory ailment features cold-like symptoms in its initial stages, but may lead to severe coughing fits that provoke vomiting or even break ribs.
