QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — Move over, pizza rat! Raccoons are taking over a building entrance in Queens – and eating takeout?
Some residents of a Queens building have a reoccurring problem of unwanted visitors. The Streetman family reached out to PIX11 News after getting a surprise visit at their front door on Christmas Day.
Jennifer Streetman says her daughter took a picture of three raccoons feasting on garbage, or what appears to be remnants of takeout just outside the front door of their building. It’s not the first time this has happened, she says.
Frentre’ Jones also lives in the building on Beach Channel Drive and says she is horrified to come home at night.
Streetman believes the raccoons moved in because of a combination of scaffolding and trash. To be fair, crews were cleaning up the garbage when PIX11 News arrived at the building and there was siding work being done over the scaffolding.
PIX11 News reached out to Wavecrest Management and received a quick response, saying an expert who does licensed trapping for raccoons and other wildlife was surveying the situation.
