State police said 23-year-old Rebekah Byler, who was pregnant at the time, was allegedly killed by 52-year-old Shawn Cranston from Corry, PA.
Cranston’s trial is set to begin in March of this year .
In total, violent crime and homicide in Erie did decrease in 2024 compared to the previous year.
However, fatal car accidents saw an increase, especially those involving pedestrians. That number has more than doubled.
There was still plenty to celebrate this year.
Erie was in the direct line of totality for the solar eclipse back in early April. That phenomenon brought thousands of people to the region, one couple even tying the knot during totality .
The rare, natural events didn’t stop there, as the people got plenty of chances to view the northern lights throughout the summer thanks to strong geomagnetic storms.
