WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Two people are dead, and several others are hurt in a crash in the southbound lanes of the Kansas Turnpike. The crash happened just after midnight south of Wichita in Sumner County near 140th Avenue. It is just south of Kansas Star Casino.
A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper tells KSN News that the crash involved a semi, a Chevy Express van hauling a trailer, and a Jeep. The trooper said one person died at the scene, and another died at the hospital. The victims are identified as 58-year-old Ernestina Eumana-Alvarez and Christian Gutierrez, an infant, from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The trooper says the semi hit a van hauling a trailer. The Jeep collided with the overturned van and trailer.
