For more than a century, a local organization has been caring for children and adults in our community.
And now it’s the latest recipient of a financial donation from Loving Giving Local donation.
This week’s Loving Giving Local donation goes to an organization that had a heartbreaking and heartwarming beginning back in 1912
“There was a baby left at Union Station and a group of 12 women took it upon themselves to say we can’t have this. We need to have a solution for babies that need us,” said Jessica Krugger, the EHCA advancement director.
That began what was formerly known as the Erie Infants Home. Now EHCA, Erie Home for Children and Adults, the organization serves 600 individuals living in more than 20 homes in Erie, Crawford and Venango Counties.
“We provide them with amazing comfortable group homes to reside in and to have all of their needs met. We have wonderful day program too, to help them get out in the community. Work on various projects, volunteer, employment when possible,” Krugger said. “We also have a life-sharing program to encourage those who are caring for a loved one at home that might need some extra support.”
