The man accused of killing a volunteer firefighter has been handed his sentence.

An Erie County judge sentenced Dawann Simmons to 9-18 years in prison after pleading no contest to homicide by vehicle but pleaded guilty to several other charges including accidents involving death while not licensed, driving while suspended, and driving at an unsafe speed.

His sentence does not include the possibility of parole.
