CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — Clearwater police helped bring a purr-fect ending to a scary situation Thursday morning.
A police department communications worker set off for work and heard the faint cry of a cat from underneath the hood. After checking for the source of the sound, she continued on.
“Concerned about the cat’s welfare, she called her mom, who assured her if she could hear the cat, it likely would be OK until she got to Clearwater. For the entire drive, she and the cat were both crying,” Clearwater police said.
Clearwater police officers and communications center workers sprung into action, popping the hood, jacking up the car and beginning their search for the cat. They eventually found the critter in the front bumper area behind one of the headlights.
“He got a free ride across the Courtney Campbell Causeway,” the communications worker said. “Nothing like that has ever happened to me. I hope he finds a really good family.”
The adorable kitten got out safely and was taken to Pinellas County Animal Control.
