Oregon begins fluorescent light bans to promote sustainability

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon has officially banned the sale of fluorescent lightbulbs as of January 1, becoming the seventh state to enact legislation of this kind that is aimed at reducing environmental toxins. House Bill 2531 prohibits the sale of the mercury-containing bulbs and encourages residents and businesses to transition to energy-efficient LED lighting.
