HOUSTON, Texas – A two-alarm fire broke out at an apartment complex in the South Main area early Thursday morning, resulting in injuries to two residents and one firefighter. The blaze caused an estimated $1.5 million in damage, according to a press release from the Houston Fire Department.The fire occurred at 2832 S. Bartell Dr. at 5:43 a.m., with flames visible from the second floor and residents jumping from balconies of adjoining units. Firefighters arrived on the scene and requested a second alarm, assisting residents to safety and working to extinguish the fire from the exterior. Two civilians were transported to the hospital, and a firefighter was also hospitalized for a leg injury.HFD Arson investigators determined the fire was accidental, caused by careless disregard of smoking materials. A total of 120 personnel responded to the incident, including crews from multiple stations. The building was ventilated with fans, and firefighters ensured all hotspots were extinguished.
