Baltimore residents brace for dangerously cold weekend as Code Blue Alert issued for Saturday through Tuesday

Baltimore residents brace for dangerously cold weekend as Code Blue Alert issued until Tuesday 02:31

BALTIMORE – On Friday, the Baltimore City Health Commissioner issued a Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert from Saturday to Tuesday.

The alert was issued due to wind chills projected to dip to 13 degrees overnight on Saturday and remain in the teens through Tuesday.

According to the Baltimore City Health Department, these conditions along with the potential for snow on Monday could pose a risk for Baltimore residents.

“Extreme cold can be life-threatening, especially for vulnerable populations such as older adults, young children, and individuals experiencing homelessness,” said Interim Health Commissioner Mary Beth Haller. “We urge all residents to take precautions to remain warm and as safe as possible during this period.”

Marylanders saw a bit of that wintery weather on Friday but it’s going to continue to get dangerously cold this weekend.

Strong winds, dark clouds, and some snow across the region on Friday had Baltimoreans bundled up and bracing for the winter season.
